Christian Style Yoga
is a practice that combines stretching, controlled breathing, and relaxation in conjunction with Christian music. Christian Yoga helps reduce stress, lower blood pressure, improve heart function, and a host of health benefits as any other style yoga. The only difference is that Christian Yoga is faith based and we choose to honor Christ with our spirit, mind and body.
People around the world have practiced yoga for thousands of years, and millions of Americans currently enjoy its health benefits. Yoga is an effective, low-impact form of exercise that involves integration of every muscle, organ, and cell of the body, bringing balance to body and mind.
Current trends in yoga have begun to disassociate yoga from the root of its Hindu origins and merely view it as a technique for improving flexibility and overall fitness. While certainly this is a great form and additional adjunct to any exercise routine it often does leave out an overall benefit of bringing a spiritual connection between the body, mind and spirit. Often, many feel uncomfortable or unease worshiping to deities and ancient Gods of Hindu origin. Or, perhaps in their hearts they are choosing “God” to apply their own spiritual connection yet are overshadowed by the overwhelming influence or lack thereof an unknown God during class.
